Introduction

The Turtle Mountain Community College Library serves as both an academic and public library. Our collection of materials supports the needs of the students, professional development of teachers and staff, and the community. The library’s holdings are organized in nine collections:

  1. Reference Collection,
  2. Easy Collection,
  3. Juvenile Collection,
  4. Anishinabe Collection,
  5. Elementary Education Collection,
  6. Non-Fiction Collection,
  7. Fiction Collection,
  8. Professional Development Collection, and
  9. Law Library Collection.
The Library’s holdings also include a large periodical section; music on cassette, compact discs, and phonograph records; audio books on cassette and CD-Rom; and a large assortment of videos and DVD’s. The Library also has a computer lab with 12 computers that are internet accessible, and has wireless internet capabilities.

The Professional Development Collection has a variety of print materials, kits, audiovisual, equipment, and a separate computer lab consisting of six computers, a smart board, and projector to be used by teachers and staff for professional development and teaching resources.

The library is furnished with a children’s reading area, newsprint reading area, a quiet lounging area for large group studying or for student organizations meetings, smaller lounging areas for reading, and three tutor rooms. Patrons can also view videos and DVD’s in the designated areas of the library.
