Education and work experience:
I graduated from the Belcourt High School in 1973 and shortly after that enrolled in College at the University of North Dakota. I took a leave from college and enlisted in the US Navy in 1974. I served in the US Navy from 1974-1977 (active duty) and earned an honorable discharge in 1980. After my discharge I went back to college at the University of North Dakota (UND) and in 1983 I earned two undergraduate degrees, a BS in physical education and a BA in Indian Studies. Upon graduation I began working for the Indians into Medicine (INMED) Program at UND. I worked for INMED for twelve years, until 1995. I began working in the school system at Belcourt early in 1996 and by March was employed by the Turtle Mountain Community College (TMCC). In August of that same year I applied and was hired as the TMCC Academic Dean. For the next six years I served in that capacity. In 2000, I was accepted into the first UND educational leadership doctoral cohort program. In 2002, I was granted a BUSH Fellowship and return to graduate school full-time. I spent the next 18 months finishing course work, COMPS and started to work on my dissertation. In December 2003, I returned to the Belcourt and begin working for the Belcourt School System. In March of 2005, I left Belcourt and went to work at the United Tribes Technical College (UTTC). I spent the next 8 months at UTTC as the Director of the Tribal Analytics Institute. In November of 2005, I was offered the position of the Human Resource Director at TMCC. One month later, in December of 2005, I received my Doctorate Degree in Educational Leadership from the University of North Dakota.
