Qualifications:
Bachelors Degree Health Related field preferred or a minimum of an associate degree or its equivalent in medical billing & coding & NDCTE Postsecondary Teacher Certification to teach medical billing & coding.
Desired Experience/Training/Credentials:
- Must meet ND State Career & Technical Education Postsecondary Certification Standards.
- Teaching experience at the adult and post secondary level. Successful teaching experience with diverse student population.
- Ability to implement contemporary pedagogical philosophies, methods and techniques including multi-media to develop and deliver instruction in classroom and lab settings.
- Able to develop instructional activities, course syllabi, course outlines and other necessary teaching material.
- Ability to effectively use appropriate technology and equipment.
- Ability to work collegially with all individuals in the tribal college setting.
- Able to teach Health Information Management and Medical Billing & Coding courses.
- Applicant must be able to pass a drug test and background check.
Job Responsibilities:
- To teach basic undergraduate courses in Health Information Management and Medical Billing & Coding.
- To guide research projects for career & technical education students.
- To advise students in medical billing & coding curriculum.
- Develop and disseminate recruitment materials for the medical billing & coding program.
- Assist in program and curriculum development in the medical billing & coding program.
- To conduct assessment through pre and post test methods to measure effectiveness of course instruction.
- To collaborate with Career & Technical Education Director to develop a scope and sequence of instruction.
- Develop and teach labs for all classes that require lab.
- Develop a medical billing coding advisory board and hold meetings.
- Prepare and submit monthly program progress reports to CTE Director.
- Maintain inventory of laboratory supplies and equipment.
- Develop and follow a five-year “Individual Professional Development Plan (IPDP)” as prescribed by TMCC’s faculty salary policy manual.
- To accept TMCC committee(s) assignments and other related contract-delineated responsibilities as specified in contract.
