Jessica Ahrendt was born in Germany while her father was stationed with the Air Force at Sembach Air Base. Jessica spent most of her childhood in Germany before moving with her family to Minot where she attended high school at Bishop Ryan and college at Minot State University. Jessica graduated from MSU with a B.A. in Sociology. She then went to the University of North Dakota where she focused on tribal and public interest law and obtained her J.D. Jessica was admitted to the North Dakota Bar in 2006.

She has worked with the White Earth Band of Ojibwe as a Law Clerk concentrating on writing codes including probate, corporate, and predatory offenders. In 2006 Jessica worked as a Judicial Law Clerk with the Turtle Mountain Tribal Court in addition to her teaching with the Turtle Mountain Community College. Jessica recently completed a term as a Law Clerk with the East Central Judicial District in Fargo. She is currently working in private practice in Valley City.
